Aussie-Observations: Day-8

Round 4

OK, so I was exhausted last night & didn’t write anything. Here’s a really quick summary of the conclusion of Round #4

Rafa vs Cilic
Rafa is Awesome! Beat Cilic like Cilic owed him money. Straight sets: 6-2, 6-4, 6-3

Dolgopolov vs Soderling
The Ukranian surprised Soderling, and took him out in 5 sets: 1-6, 6-3, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.  To say that Doglove is a little bit streaky is to make a profound understatement.  This is wild. Check out the unforced errors column from Dogpile’s first two matches. Yeah, you read that correctly. FIVE!  FIVE unforced errors in his first two matches COMBINED! Compared to 26 in his 3rd round match and 23 against Soderling.   Compared his numbers to a couple other players whose names you might recognize:

Unforced Errors Dogpatch Nadal Federer
Round #1 3 10 18
Round #2 2 25 53
Round #3 26 32 36
Round #4 23 21 40
Total 54 88 147

Dagwood absolutely OWNS that running forehand. My lord…did he miss any of those?

Next up for Dogo is Andy Murray.  He’ll need to keep those unforced errors down against Murray because, as Darren Cahill would say, Murray’s “a whole other kettle of fish”.

Women’s Singles
Winners include: Clijsters def Ekaterina Makarova, Radwanska def Shuai Peng, Petra Kvitova def Flavia Pennetta, Zvonareva def Benesova
